Anduril

Okay, sorry fellas. I try not to go five days without posting, one because I enjoy it and two because this is a habit I want to keep, but I had to. School has been going crazy and I have a test tomorrow morning, so this will not be super long. The holidays are coming up, however, and I will be posting quite a bit more, mostly because I can use this as an excuse to get away from my family.

I love Lord of the Rings. In my opinion, Lord of the Rings is one of the greatest forms of human expression in history. Lord of the Rings is a story about how evil is merely a corruption of good, self-sacrifice, death, and the desire to escape it, and the eternal battle between all that is good in the world and all that is bad. I hate when people brag about this or make it their entire personality (hypocritical, I know,) but I am a LOTR nerd. I always watch the extended cuts (when I’m not watching with other people.) I have read all of the books, and I am working on The Silmarillion. So when I started hearing whispers about this company, Anduril, I started freaking out.

Anduril is an Elvish name for a sword. The sword that was broken but reforged in Rivendell by Elrond. It is Aragorn’s claim to the throne. That doesn’t matter, but the name Anduril translates in Elvish to “Flame Of The West.”

Anduril is also an American defense company.

You know if you have read this website long enough that I L-U-V good names, and this is one of the best. An American defense company being named Flame Of The West in Elvish is unbelievably creative.

Anduril is unfortunately a private company, but I am excited for them to go public, which I think they will do, if I had to guess, in early 2026, just based on current growth and their CEO, Palmer Luckey’s statements. Not only am I excited to invest in them because of their name, and its obvious coolness, but also because the company is changing defense. Everything in Anduril is about autonomy and AI. Anduril is the future of defense, and they are so far ahead of the curve compared to these slow, monolithic, defense contractors like Boeing or Lockheed. Anduril is selling drones and computer software, and Boeing is selling a giant plane.

I do have to caveat everything by saying that I cannot look at their financials because they are a private company, so I cannot truly say that they would be a company worth buying into if they opened tomorrow. Still, I do like where they are going, and as an American, I like this new approach to defense.
