I Hate To Talk About Him Again…

This one is going to be relatively short. We are once again talking about my archest of nemesis…ELON MUSK. If you are not aware of my significant beef with Elon Musk, I will quickly fill you in. If you are aware, skip to the end of the paragraph. Basically, I have always thought that Elon Musk was an overpriced commodity. To me, Elon is a good starter, but he cannot manage. Combine his lack of leadership prowess in the eye of the storm with his drug habit, childlike emotional control, and my jealousy of his cash, and you have a person I dislike—a person I at least dislike investing in.

As I said, Elon Musk cannot manage in the eye of the storm. He will do a really good job of building the ship, charting the course, and getting everyone to believe in the mission; but once everyone is out in the water, charging at the storm, his leadership fails. Tesla is that ship, and the storm is the car industry, possibly the most intense industry in the world. Tesla has long been the pinnacle of electric vehicles, and Elon the new-age leader whose Kool-Aid every investor was drinking.

And then, uh-oh, not everything is perfect. Not every electric car is going to be a Tesla, some companies are going to get as good or better than Tesla at making electric batteries and electric cars, and China is blowing up the EV industry with hyper-cheap cars. Now Tesla is facing trouble, oh what can Elon possibly do to combat this trouble?

Elon’s answer is not to work through the problem, take a step back, or try and reshape the problem, Elon’s answer is to try and glitz and glamor his way through. From CNBC, “Elon Musk says Tesla will unveil its robotaxi on Aug. 8; shares pop.” Elon, you have got to be kidding. HOW MANY TIMES MUST WE DO THIS? Just a month ago or so, I wrote about Elon’s habit of flashing new technology instead of giving any real information on the problem. And investors will not stop believing him that everything is going to be okay as long as they keep believing in the next new technology.

WHY CAN’T THEY SEE THAT THIS MAN IS PANICKING AND LYING ALL OVER THE PLACE? The stock is down 33% so far this year. The man’s pride, reputation, and most of his money lie within the stock, obviously, he is going to create a fantasy land with brand-new technology. This robotaxi is going to be an abject failure.

I do not even know if this robotaxi will ever be released to the public. CNBC (who usually hangs on every word Elon spits out as if it were writhing gold) wrote “In 2015, Elon Musk told shareholders that Tesla’s cars would achieve “full autonomy” within three years. In 2016, he said Tesla would able to send one of its cars on a cross-country drive without requiring any human intervention by the end of the following year.” Honestly, I had forgotten about how long he has been promising the fully autonomous cars/robotaxis only for another year to roll around with no major updates.

I genuinely do not understand why people cannot see how these are not the last gasps of a faux Ozymandias. There is no empire to be melted into ingots. Eventually, the masses will understand him; he will be found out. Then, finally then, there will be nowhere for him to turn except for the shadows of his failure.
